Want to 3x your Twitter growth in 2 months?
The real world guide to building an audience on Twitter (Part 1)
I had no experience in content creation, social media, or even writing online.
I wasn’t a marketer, growth-hacker, or guru.
I didn’t come from a Fortune 500 or silicon start-up.
I was a math & English teacher working night classes in Vietnam, 8000 miles away from home. Pretty average right?
Not only that…
But I am also of the biggest lurkers you will ever meet.
If you were friends with me on Facebook you’d be lucky to see me post once a year. I was deathly afraid of putting myself out on social media.
In other words: I was a total Twitter noob.
Zero experience + Fear of posting online = Twitter noob.1
So how did I manage to:
Double profile visits 🤙
Triple my followers in 2 months 📈
Grow an account from 1.4k to 3.4k in 1 month 🎉
while Tweeting LESS each month ?
(and still be a lurker.)
Twitter Rule #1: Anyone can do this.
Twitter Street Cred (the juicy results) 📈
Here’s what 6-7 months of part-time tweeting will get you.

Hourly Breakdown
I spent 10~ hours per week in total split between growing my personal and client accounts.
50% Tweets
25% Engagement & DM’s
25% Threads
As a rule of thumb:
If you want impressions optimize your tweets. 🐦
If you want connections optimize your DM’s. 👋
If you want followers optimize your threads. 🧵
Twitter rule #2: You don’t have to follow conventional advice like DM and Tweet 24/7 to grow.
How You Can Get “EZ” Noob Gainz 💪
Growing from 1-1000 is significantly harder than growing from 1000-3000.
The first is a 100,000% increase, while the other is 300%. As your audience grows, your Twitter reach compounds and it’s much easier for you to go viral.
Twitter Rule #3: Put in the work now and the dividends will pay off later.
Here are some noob gainz you can take advantage of right now if you haven’t yet. The best part? Each only takes <1 hour to do.
These links will save you HOURS of research so make sure you save them and use them properly.
Choose ONE and Execute 💪
Best Practices
Instead of just changing your bio and banner secretly overnight, tweet about it and ask others for their opinion.
After 2-3 weeks if you don’t see an improvement make another bio/banner and do the same.
At the end of the experiment post the two them side by side and ask for feedback.
Track your analytics and see if it made a difference. What stood out? What did people comment on the most? What did you find most appealing? What felt “inauthentic”?
This is basically #learninginpublic.
Twitter Rule #4: Ask and ye shall receive a reply.
The difference between those who “Gain” and those who “Wane”
People assume that if they just follow X tip they’ll suddenly boost growth.
Yes and no.
It’s the same as that one student in class that always asks the teacher, “Will this be on the test?”.
Sure, he may memorize that one factoid and pass the test, but he missed out on the value of learning.
The same goes with Twitter growth.
Except Twitter growth isn’t a final exam. It’s forever.
You’ll never go far with just one tip or hack, you need to play the long game— that’s why frameworks and principles are necessary.
Twitter Rule #5: Following advice is good. Executing fully and being 100% committed is better.
If you keep trying to “hack” your way to success you’ll end up nowhere. Stick to one strategy until it works and play the long-game.
TL;DR
Anyone can do this
No you don’t need to tweet/dm like crazy to grow
Work hard now (it gets easier as you grow)
#learninpublic by asking, you’ll always get a reply
Don’t just follow advice. Execute 100%
3 Easy Things You Can Try Now 💪

As I was writing this issue I realized I started creating an “ultimate guide” sort of post. And I broke my own constraints of writing super skimmable articles.
So instead of having a TON of tools/ stories/ and outlines I decided to split it up into parts.
As always, thanks for being such an awesome reader. If you ever have any questions or comments about anything feel free to email or DM me! ❤
I’m gonna patent this formula.
I totally made this number up.
Choosing which Twitter tool to use and which one is ideal for you might be tricky with so many options available. Twitter even makes it clear that using images can boost your reach.
I have found one tool that can complement your feed, and help you make most out of it. A free tool that lets you share tweets as beautiful images. The goal? Enjoy a more attractive and visual image than classic tweet screenshots. Go to Tweeta - Create and share appealing images of tweet , paste url of your preferred tweet and choose your favorite color/gradient. Select your desired text, radius and theme. Tweeta helps you make your feed look visually more appealing and aesthetic.
