let's talk about the F word.
No, not THAT F word.
The other F word…Fun.
"Fun" is most powerful persuasive tool in your arsenal, and the one that's most often overlooked.
It doesn't matter if you're a creator, copywriter, or coach...
if you're not having fun, then neither are your customers or readers.
And for the past 3 months I was the opposite of fun.😐😐😐
I was in a funk.
I had zero motivation to create.
My tweets felt forced and robotic.
I had to drag myself out of bed each morning. And when I was working, I was just going through the motions.
No wonder my work wasn't resonating with people!
I wasn't connecting with people because I wasn't connecting with myself.
So I started goofing off.
I began DM'ing people "just for the heck of it" to get on zoom calls.👋
I started writing jokes instead of "value bombs" ( even if they were dad jokes).💣
I engaged with GIF's and other people's memes.
In other words, I started having fun again.
And you know what?
My writing improved.
My relationships improved.
I even began to enjoy the process of marketing myself (which is something I used to dread!)
So What IS Fun? (I can't believe I wrote this line)
It's the opposite of work. It's play. It's enjoyment.
It's the childish glee you get when you buy a 25 cent bouncy ball from the gas station and then spend the next hour playing with it.
It's a contagious state of mind.
And when you're having fun, people can sense it. They feel it. And they want to be part of it.
Here’s what I did last week for fun:
Building In Public
📢Shout out to @JannisFedoruk-Betschki for launching his newsletter this week! That guy is an absolute web design wiz 🧙♂️ and I can’t wait to see what he’s going to create next.
🤔I’ve been putting off sending out the Hungry Writer’s Toolbox out to beta testers because of ‘resistance’ and procrastination but I managed to send it to 3 people today!
Oh and I also worked on the About Me page. I think Axes should be my new quirky emoji. What do you think?
👨🔬If you’re one of the few people who want to take a peek of the Hungry Writer’s Toolbox…
I’m looking for writers, copywriters, creators who write, or even nocoders!
Reply to this email or send me a DM and I’ll gladly send you a link!
Till next week,
Brian “F-word” To

I’ve been playing around with new formats for the newsletter. Quirky? Useful? Funny personal stories? Maybe a funny illustration? This post helped alot, thanks Christine for recommending it!
