Effortless Twitter MasteryđCh. 1: Why no one cares if you're cool
Answer These 3 Key Questions To Pour Gasoline On Your Growth + my favorite to-do list app
Hello Fellow Day One Creator,
This issue will feature the first of my mini-series on âEffortless Twitter Mastery: Embracing the Passive Path to Audience Growthâ where Iâll be sharing all the secrets and strategies that helped me grow to 2k+ followers passively.
If you know anything about meâŚ
I hate hustling on social media.
I donât believe in:
Chasing for likes
Engaging 24/7
Or writing threads until your hands fall off.
My personal philosophy on building an online business is:
It should be fun
It should make you happy.
Thatâs why I find ways to systematize all the things I hate (content scheduling) and focus more on the things I love (meeting cool new creators).
In this mini-series: youâll find analogies, stories, and mental models thatâll help you radically change the way you approach building an audience on Twitter.
Tilâ next week,
Brian âPassiveâ To
P.S. Do you enjoy social media? or the hustle? Does social media have to be a hustle? Let me know, I would love to hear your opinion!
Lesson One: No One Cares How Cool You AreâŚ
When I first started growing on Twitter it felt like I was banging my head against a wall.
Should I be making friends? or trying to attract customers?
Should I build in public? or be super direct with my marketing?
I tried every strategy under the sun and it felt like nothing workedâŚ
until I realized one key lesson.
No one cares how cool you are⌠they only care how useful you are to them.
This applies to everything online. Whether youâre building a brand, an audience, or simply trying to network with new people.
If your target audience doesnât understand how you benefit them, they will leave.
Itâs better to be CLEAR than to be COOL.
Let me explain:
Most new creators assume if their profile is âcoolâ or aesthetic this means people will follow their page.
This is completely wrong.
They assume, that when viewers see their page they think:
Who is this person?
Are they interesting? (Cool, Unique, My vibe)
If yes follow. If no bounce.
This idea is based off of making friends, and socializing in the real world. Which is great if you want to use Twitter to make friends but is horrible if you want to attract customers especially when youâre starting out as a new page).
In reality, a majority of Twitter users follow this train of thought:
WHAT is this page talking about? (Not WHO. They donât care who you are.)
Do I find this page useful, entertaining, or inspiring?
Useful? I follow. Made me laugh? I follow. Inspires me? I follow.
The quicker you can answer these 3 questions the more likely youâll be converting visitors to followers, and followers to customers.
