Don't get stuck in Lurker Land
The devil is real, and he lives in Lurker Land. The 3 P's that stop you from pursuing your purpose and How to (kinda) stop endlessly scrolling once and for all
Someday I’ll start that blog….
Someday I’ll write that essay…
Someday… Someday…
These were the lies I’d tell myself every time I stayed up till 1 am scrolling on Twitter looking at all the cool stuff that people created.
I was jealous. Envious. 😒
I wanted to be just like those creators that had all the confidence in the world to ship things (even if they had no audience.)
So what did I do?
I started planning. I started preparing. I started downloading templates, guides, and tools.
I watched video after video after video… forever postponing actually ever creating anything.
Aaaaand after a absurd amount of hours researching how to write a headline…
I published a sum total of…0 articles. 🤦♂️
I didn’t know it then, but I was trapped in Lurker Land.
Lurker Land is the in-between limbo-like hell between doing nothing and doing everything. 😈
It’s where dreams get pushed to the never-seen future.
And it’s where people’s passions go to die.
If you find yourself Planning, Postponing, or Preparing to do “X”…
You’re most likely stuck in Lurker Land.
But the worst part of Lurker Land isn’t that you’re always delaying your dreams…
The worst part is:
The longer you stay the harder it is to get out.
The more you delay, the harder it gets to actually start the damn thing.
Everyone talks about setting positive habits, but what about negative habits that hinder your growth?
Making excuses becomes a habit.
Putting off your writing becomes a normal thing to do.
Scrolling TikTok suddenly becomes much more interesting than sitting down and writing a single word—And the resistance builds.
The resistance builds and builds until one day, you can’t take it anymore.
The pain is unbearable.
You say: I’m fed up with this BS! When am I ever going to start writing something?
So what should you do?
Here’s my advice:
Create something small.
It could be a tweet. It could be a headline. It could just be a sentence.
But create something— and then pat yourself on the back.
Because, taking at least one step forward today…towards what you dream of is still one step more than yesterday.
Then repeat. And repeat. And repeat.
Do this daily. It has to be daily.
And do not, under any circumstance, take your progress for granted. Just keep on taking those small steps and remember to acknowledge your effort.
Till next week,
